Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that can cause problems with reading, writing and spelling.
It's a "specific learning difficulty", which means it causes problems with certain abilities used for learning, such as reading and writing.
It's estimated that up to 1 in every 10 to 20 people in the UK has some degree of dyslexia.

Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent reading and spelling (The British Dyslexia Association, 2010).
Other characteristics can include difficulties with phonological awareness, memory and processing speed. It is said that 10% of the population have dyslexia, with 4% severely.
Low self-esteem and difficulties with organisation, motor co-ordination and language can also co-occur.
Strengths can involve design, creativity, problem-solving, interactive skills and oral skills.
At Positive Strides We aim to develop the strengths of the learner to help them overcome their difficulties.
